WHO WE ARE
Our values and aims
We want to encourage a culture of radical care: creating a community where resources and learning can be freely shared in opposition to the draining capitalist system we live under. We want to do this in a financially sustainable way by subverting the tenant/landlord relationship, using rent to support each other rather than lining an individual’s pockets. Our core values encompass equality, diversity, sustainability and de-growth, and self and community empowerment.
Our members
Mara Co-op is a collective of organisers for grassroots groups in Aberdeen. We’ve created a co-operative to provide affordable housing, and accelerate positive social change by providing community groups with a free space to organise and access resources.
We have years of collective experience organising community groups. Between us, we have a diversity of professional, voluntary, and personal experience in worker’s unions and co-operatives, food banks and cooking, conservation, health and safety, community support, and more.
